What is Ponyo about?

The movie is about a goldfish named Ponyo, who’s living in a fishbowl in a jar on the beach. The 5-year-old Sosuke, who lives inside a building on the seaside cliff, finds Ponyo and free’s her. As a reward he gets a lick on the finger, this to heal a wound. And since Ponyo wants to become a human, because he is currently a fish, he needs to taste human blood for this transformation to take place. This is the beginning of an amazing friendship between the two.

Sosuke starts being very protective over Ponyo. He hopes Ponyo will eventually have some arms and legs pop out of her body so she becomes a little girl instead of a goldfish. He even walks her to school, isn’t that a cute thing to do for a friend?

Our review of Ponyo full movie

We think Ponyo is one of the best anime movies for young people we have reviewed so far, even we liked it. The nice and cute animations are what pleased us the most. It has almost been 10 years since the release and we’ve probably watched it over twenty times already with our crew.

The soundtrack created by Joe Hisaishi for Ponyo full movie was amazing. It synchronized very well with the animations of all the movie characters. Yuria Nara played an amazing role as Ponyo, the daughter of Fujimoto.

We give this movie a 8 out of 10, which is one of the highest ratings we’ve given for an anime movie.
